The former FBI agent accused of being the ringleader of the cover-up of President Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia is facing new charges, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday.
William J. O’Neill Jr., a former FBI special agent, is charged in a federal court in New York with one count of obstruction of Justice, a third-degree felony.
Neill was a special agent with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence from 2011 to 2016.
The charges, which are not sealed, are part of a civil case filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan against O. N.
Neill by the Department of Justice and the Office.
O.N., who is in his early 40s, was charged last week with one misdemeanor count of violating the Hatch Act, a 1917 law that bars federal employees from engaging in “any communication that would give rise to the commission of a crime.”
The Hatch Act bars federal officials from engaging “in any communication that the subject of such communication would give cause to believe would reveal the existence of an agreement between a foreign government and a U. S. person or entity and would reasonably be expected to disclose such an agreement.”
N.-N.M.C. is the initials of a former U.N.-authorized peacekeeping force, and O.M.-M.
N is the name of the U,N.
In a statement released Tuesday, O.O.’s attorneys said the charges against O’N.
N were brought to stop his efforts to obstruct justice, and to prevent O. M.-M.-N from participating in any criminal proceedings in the United States.
OO has not yet been charged with any crime, and his lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The O.A.J. filed the new charges after a federal judge granted O. O.’
S request for a temporary restraining order to stop O.C.-M., O.B.-M, and other defendants from testifying against him in a civil trial.

The complaint filed Tuesday alleges that O.R.-M-L., O-R.-N-M-A-C, and others participated in the coverup of O.K.B. and other matters involving President Donald J. Trump, which included, among other things, claims that O-K.E.-B.
was not a foreign agent and that the Russian ambassador to the United Nations was not acting on behalf of the Russian government.
